I don’t have to tell you how bad the crisis in Lebanon is—all you need do is glance at your newspaper or flip on the TV. But behind the grisly headlines are real people who desperately need our help.
I ask you to help Grassroots International support the remarkable Lebanese relief organizations and relief workers risking their lives to help war-injured and hungry victims from all ethnic and religious groups. Click here to donate online now.
Even as bombs fall, Grassroots International can get aid to families in need through local groups with intimate knowledge of affected communities. Over the past weeks, Grassroots’ colleague Al-Leqaa has delivered tons of food and fresh water, medicines, mattresses and blankets, and donated clothes collected through local and international campaigns.
They will help people survive the onslaught of the war, and afterward, when they stream back to their flattened towns and villages and oil-polluted ports to rebuild shattered lives. To help them do their work effectively, I urgently ask for your help. Click here to learn more about Grassroots International’s emergency humanitarian program in Lebanon.
Grassroots International is a human rights and international development organization that has been working in the Middle East for 23 years. For more information: www.grassrootsonline.org
I ask you to not only make a donation to Grassroots International’s Lebanese relief effort but to contact your legislators to press for an immediate ceasefire to stop this humanitarian and environmental disaster.
In peace and solidarity,
Noam Chomsky
P.S. Humanitarian needs are growing in Lebanon by the minute. Thank you for acting now.
