the phone rings off the hook.

When people hear the jingle of Shakawa al-Naas, Arabic for People's Complaints, a popular call-in show, they know the time has come when they can vent their frustrations and complain.

But it's not really about consumer problems, refunds that have not arrived or hotel bookings that have gone wrong. Instead the show is a telling indicator of the terrible state of public services in Lebanon.

One man is angry and fed up with power rationing.
