Southern Lebanon made the headlines for all the wrong reasons this summer. We went back to find out what life is like for people now the news agenda has moved on.
‘I don’t suppose you’re open for business again yet?’ I ask Mona Khalil over the phone. She and her associate, Habiba Syed were trapped in their Orange House bed and breakfast on the Tyre-Naqqoura road for the first weeks of the war, as Israel bombarded the south. “We only lost one bedroom and one bathroom, so we’re still open, yes,” she answers. You have to love the Lebanese in times of hardship.
